“Architecture has to be greater than just architecture. It has to address social values, as well as technical and aesthetic values. On top of that, the one true gift that an architect has is his or her imagination. We take something ordinary and elevate it to something extraordinary.” - Samuel Mockbee

We listen. We inspire. We care. We are passionate about architecture and we love what we do.
We strive for simplicity in design, clean lines and well executed ideas that function well and age beautifully.
Our strength is creating a space for collaboration between client, architect and builder to craft a building, a structure or a work place that is inspired by your vision but also has our unique signature.
We organize and make manageable the overwhelming process of re-imagining, building and renovating. We always try to go a step further and build upon your vision to surprise you with something unexpected.
Most of all, we love what we do.
Rusafova Markulis Architects believe in personalized service. We craft our approach to each project based on the specific client requirements, the scope and the budget, yet we give the same level of attention and design excellence to each project no matter the size. We offer a number of services that can be customized to meet the requirements of each project.
Full set of Architectural Services:
Schematic Design (SD) – Initial stage of the Design Process which includes gathering of all necessary information regarding the projects site, desired program, time frame and target budget. All documents provided by the client such as survey plots, neighborhood covenants, design guidelines (if any), etc. are collected and discussed. Sketches, basic floor plans, elevations and descriptions of the design concept are generated and presented to the client.
Design Development (DD) – Upon client's approval of the Schematic Design the design concept is developed further into a preliminary set of drawings that illustrate the intended look of the final product.
Construction Documents (CD) – The Construction Documents necessary for construction as well as obtaining required permits are generated and assembled during this phase. Final Construction Set of drawings includes all Architectural Plans - Floor Plans, Foundation, Roof and Reflected Ceiling Plans, Elevations and Sections, as well as, any additional information needed from consultants - Structural, Site, Plumbing/Electrical/Mechanical. Signed and sealed letters of compliance to building code officials are provided if necessary. If the client intends to acquire several competitive bids from contractors for the work described in the construction documents, the bidding and negotiating process is appended to this phase.
Construction Administration (CA) – Upon completion of the Design Phases the client has an option to continue to work with the architect throughout the construction process to ensure that work is done according to the Construction Documents. The supervision process entails administering the contract between the client and the builder , reviewing of material samples, colors and shop drawings, regular visits to the building site as well as meetings with the building team. Meetings and site visits are set up on a as-needed, weekly or biweekly basis.
Additional Services include work beyond the services outlined in the agreement. They can include but are not limited to design and coordination of any green building features, Energy Star ratings and Green/Healthy Built certifications.
Interior Design and selection of finishes is also considered an additional service.
We offer all of our potential clients a free, no obligation consultation to discuss their project ideas, whilst identifying particular requirements and individual design preferences.
We also offer a two hour consultation to help our potential clients go further and explore possible solutions and design approaches to their project before committing to a Full/Limited Set of Architectural Services. If the client decides that we are a good fit and proceeds forward with the project, the cost of the consultation is reimbursed.
