SAPPHIRE CABIN

We were hired to design a mountain modern cabin in the inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian design aesthetics. The clients wanted a simple vacation home – a comfortable base for their summer adventures.  They embraced our vision for three simple pavilions  framing the logging road cutting through the site. The building creates a cozy inner court yard, yet it connects to the 360 degree mountain views surrounding the cabin.

We opted for a paired down palette of dark stained wood, rough-sawn pine, polished concrete and lots of natural light.

Recipient of 2019 Matsumoto Prize First Place Jury Award & First Place People’s Choice Award.
